It’s all about me! Even the most selfless acts or feelings I have still come down to me. Think about it though. When you do service don’t you say that it ends up making you feel good about yourself? Yes? Selfish! On the other hand when you are feeling gloomy isn’t it because it gives you reason to pity and spoil yourself? Yes? Selfish! So now that we know that being selfish isn’t necessarily bad let me continue…It’s all about me! What exactly am I talking about (I mean besides everything) this blog for one example. When I write on here it helps me to clarify to myself truths about myself, it allows me to have a voice, it allows me to pretend that my voice and my truths are also inspiring other women to do the same in their own way. Why do I want to inspire others? To answer simply, it makes me feel good! I know selfish right. I love being inspired and so what an honor it would be to BE THE ONE doing the inspiring…even if it’s on a small level such as this. There you have it…you know another one of my secrets…I’m selfish! I like to be heard (on my own terms too) and I like to be true to myself!

It’s good to allow yourself time on occasion to be wild and free (or let your creativity flow) and sometimes we treat others more kindly than we treat ourselves so while we are cleaning up our mess and pretending it’s not our mess we are subconsciously giving ourselves that kindness (love and forgiveness) even if the kindness is faked it still has a positive effect on us.

I love my body! Yes, I am comfortable in my skin. That doesn’t mean that I never feel discontent with my body, that I never wish the extra fat around my hips, bottom, thighs and stomach were gone. I do. I think what makes the difference for me is that I don’t fake positivity in those moments. I let myself feel bad, complain and then I move on until next time. And until next time I’m loving my body. I’m not afraid to feel bad. I know that it’s good and even healthy for me to experience those moments.

For example; my hips are proportionately large and curvy compared to the rest of my body. Those dang hips have caused me a lot of hardship and distress. Sure having a baby may have aided in them being a bit larger now but I have always been blessed with curvy hips. When I was single I knew I had curvy hips and that did not stop me from being happy. In fact, I was very proud of them and I felt beautiful. I had my insecurities as a teenager but I still loved my body. I guess going through a body transformation that includes gaining over 40 lbs and despite shrinking again made me blind to the fact that I was indeed back to my original size (for the most part) and the only difference is that before I loved my body and now I didn’t. That realization gently nudged me to investigate. I started asking myself “what was different back then?” and I learned that my belief that I was beautiful was never really challenged. I never had a reason to believe differently, it was innocent adoration. When my body changed and grew due to marriage and pregnancy I started to challenge the love I had for my body. I knew that the body I had before was beautiful and worthy of my love and since the body I had now was different it must not be beautiful nor worthy of my love. I believed this new body evaluation of myself and that is when I began to suffer and even hate my body. Not even losing the weight could take away this pain. I had to search inside for the truth and what I found was, you guessed it, love and beauty.

My body isn’t perfect according to the standards of the society. It’s not always perfect according to my own standards. My body isn’t as perfect as other fitness professionals and it isn’t even as perfect as yours. My body is perfect as my body. It is just as lovable and beautiful as it was before. It is just as beautiful and lovable as yours, the girl that everyone envy’s and the girl in the magazine. My business isn’t about “perfection” or comparing. My purpose is love and happiness. It’s about learning to feed and move our bodies from that place of love and that place is a magical place. A magical place indeed.

I know that I wore a horrible, horrible dress for the pageant! (I guess I’m on a fashion posting spree). Yes, I am embarrassed to say that I was in a pageant. I am proud that I was in one though. Why? Cause I always wanted to compete in one and I had a cause/platform that meant something to me. Yes, I did horrible in the interview and I wore a horrible dress but I also had a ton of fun and accomplished something that scared me…and that felt good! I might even do another one in the future.

Back to the real issue here…the dreaded dress. What was I thinking? Here was my chance to as my daughter would say, be a princess and I go looking like a bimbo. If I were a celebrity I would be on the worst dressed list for this. The worst part is you would think I would know better since I took a certification course to be a fashion stylist…but that is another story. I picked the dress I did because after looking at maybe a hundred dresses and not finding one that was a good deal, beautiful, modest and perfect I was exhausted from looking. So I picked the one that a. was the right price b. was a color I thought looked good on me c. was a good deal (cheap really) and I could take it back if I needed too and I should have (most dresses you can’t return) and d. made me feel relief which resulted in me ignored the fact that it showed my shoulders… which is not something I do unless I’m wearing a swimming suit. And it totally showed my hips too much…just to name a few of its problems! Despite all that I still felt comfortable wearing it at the time. However, now looking back I wish I would have gone for the safer dresses I had tried on. I mean COME ON since I was going to show my shoulders I could have done it more tastefully and found a way more flattering dress!

I am going to bravely show you me in my dress. And yes I have fears about showing you (cause it’s embarrassing!) but I’m doing it anyway.

Now you can roll your eyes, gasp, discredit me or tell me I’m wrong. I only care about finding a way to turn back time….no can do though! So I will live and learn from my mistake. Share my embarrassments with the world and laugh it off. hahaha (crazy laughing)!!!!

If I ever need an evening dress again I might need to design it myself cause I can never find the beautiful one I imagine!

I am committed to being more truthful. I have created a new truth post. I’m calling it “The Truth IS.” I will share my simple truths with you about me (silly and serious) and how I see the world (silly and serious again). I am committed to only share truths I am comfortable sharing. I am doing this to show it’s acceptable to live in your truth; to show your true self. I will look back at times and wonder why I would want to do something like this…but then my truth will remind me what this means for me and you; that living life in truth is fulfilling. I am hoping my Truth posts will inspire you to do the same; find your truth and share it when it needs to be shared! I plan to even open my blog up for that, “Your Truth IS” post maybe…as long as it’s clean and appropriate and passes the approval process.

Some things to remember about personal truth:

* It changes. Yes, your truth can change! Just like your hairstyle, your attitude, your appetite and environment can change.

* It’s freeing. Yes, your truth can set you free!

* It feels right. To get to the truth you need to be willing to let go of what you think you know so that you CAN REALLY KNOW. In other words consider both or all possibilities completely, with no judgement. It takes practice.

* It’s loving and exhilarating. OK, it CAN be very scary and that depends on how you choose to look at it.

* Some truth is so personal is does not need to be shared. Or it should only be shared with a few trusted individuals. Just remember that…you need to keep those parts of you protected. Maybe in the future it might be right to share it or NOT. Just remember to honor your instincts.

* Sharing your truth WILL leave you open to be criticized by others. Be ready for it and learn to let it go. That takes practice too!
